Trends in national biodiversity footprints of land use

چکیده

Rising incomes (and associated expenditures) have been shown to be a major driver of environmental problems. Lately, several studies pointed break between the income and biodiversity loss on per-capita level. The increase in land-use efficiency is as key factor this decoupling. However, lot previous work footprints has cross-sectional there limited analysis with temporal perspective. In work, we couple database that links land use potential impacts for ecoregions, multiregional environmentally-extended input-output available time series, high regional detail. We perform panel regression three quantile groups six consumption categories trends affluence loss. findings suggest high-income regions from 2005 2015 an elasticity footprint higher than one, while production-based accounts show countries declining impact period, suggesting strong outsourcing low-income countries. early 2000s peak region not explained by increasing income, but rather traded goods South East Asia prone On product level find although food causing largest share all groups, manufacturing products, shelter, clothing footwear strongest countries, these are areas focus grows, particularly developing regions.

Anthropogenic footprints on biodiversity

One of the most concerning issues to modern ecology and society is the ongoing loss of biodiversity. Ecosystems are now losing species at rates only seen in previous mass extinction events (Hails, 2008; Barnosky et al., 2011) with rates of extinction between 100 and 1000 times higher than pre-human levels (Pimm et al., 1995). This loss, in turn, is impairing the functioning of ecosystems (Worm ...

National Trends in the Use of Inpatient Hospitalization for Combined Abdominoplasty and Breast Surgery

BACKGROUND Combined procedures involving elective breast surgery at the time of abdominoplasty are frequently performed procedures in aesthetic plastic surgery. While found to be safe outpatient procedures, many surgeons elect to perform combined abdominoplasty/breast surgery as inpatient surgery. This study was performed to explore the practice of performing the combined procedure as an inpat...

Land-use, Land-cover Changes and Biodiversity Loss

During Earth's history, species extinction has probably been caused by modifications of the physical environment after impacts such as meteorites or volcanic activity. On the contrary, the actual extinction of species is mainly a result of human activities, namely any form of land use that causes the conversion of vast areas to settlement, agriculture, and forestry, resulting in habitat destruc...

Land - Use and Land - Cover Trends in the Upper Midwest

Land use can be defined as the values that humans obtain from landscapes. What is it that people are actually doing on the landscape? Though remote sensing is often used for mapping land use and land cover over large areas, to actually map land use usually requires some careful human interpretation of the imagery or, better, surveying or interviewing people on the ground to identify their use o...

Evaluation of Land Use Change Trends Using Landscape Measurements (Case Study: Pakdasht City)

Today, urban and rural planning and management programs need to obtain accurate spatial information at successive times about land use changes. The main purpose of this study is to study and evaluate land use changes due to physical development with respect to 4 land uses in Bayer, agricultural lands, water zones and man-made lands in Pakdasht. Data were collected through Landsat satellite imag...
